New Birth Fellowship Church

MEGA Sports Camp
Hello! Hello! Hello! It is that time of year again. For those who are unfamiliar with with the sports camp is, I will explain it. In 2013, the idea was born to do draw youths in to the church. Our pastor believes that sports and summer recreation were a way to draw them in and provide them with spiritual nourishment per se. It is a modern spin on traditional vocational bible school.
The first year was a smashing success. The children were at the church for approxiamately three hours every evening during one week of the summer of 2013. They were involved in their sport of choice. The options were: basketball, flag football, cheerleading, and drums. This year brings forth the addition of karate. The program provided built-in breaks for them to watch a short bible story and practice chanting/reciting scriptures. At the end of the week, the parents, family, friends, and loved ones, are invited for a NBCF style welcome and fellowship to see what their children have learned. This showcase of sorts provides the opportunity to see God using even the smallest child as a vessel, and it is quite a beautiful experience.
We hosted roughly 50-60 children, and they came every day of the camp. The children were given snacks ranging from sandwiches to hot dogs. All we ask is that the parents provide emergency contact information. We did have an on-site nurse, who was able to provide care, if need be.
Personally, I am looking forward to the 2014 camp. This year's camp will run from June 23 and will formally conclude with the family day on June 28. If you would like to volunteer or help out, we certainly welcome it help. It can be rather chaotic with 50-60+ children running around, but we did it once. We shall do it again. Check out our contact page and send a message or call if desired. Leave a message and we will certainly get back to you. May the blessings shower down and continue to cover you!
